Description

Cherry veneer, also known as quartered cherry wood veneer or quarter cut American cherry veneer, is typically a warm pinkish to red toned wood that ages to a nice reddish brown color. It is available in 4′ x 8′ and 4′ x 10′ sizes as FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed, Tuf-Pli™ polyback or Pli-Flex™ wood on wood veneer sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Quartered Cherry wood veneer is also available in 8′ x 4′ cross grain option as special order.

It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Quarter cut cherry is sometimes referred to as rift cut cherry. Standard A grade cherry wood veneer commonly allows for some defects such as occasional pin knots and small dark resin spots known as gum pockets. Cherry is a hardwood that is easy to work with and strong, with a satiny texture and tight uniform grain. Another common grain characteristic is slight figure or flashing. Cherry wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
