Description
Knotty hickory veneer is a medium textured wood veneer with a distinct two toned appearance. Hickory’s light sapwood contrasting against the dark heartwood is often used to dramatic effect. It commonly has defects such as sound knots, small worm tracks and other natural grain anomalies. Rustic hickory veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is often finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
It is random planked with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Rustic calico hickory veneer is often two toned and the stark combination of light sapwood and dark heartwood color variance between flitches is used for a naturally bold effect. Hickory is a hardwood that is hard and dense but relatively easy to work with. It is strong, with a medium coarse texture and moderately porous grain.
