Manmade ebony wood veneer accepts finishes well.
Reconstituted ebony wood veneer is made from dyed and laminated layers of a fast growing secondary species of wood, with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Quarter cut reconstituted Macassar ebony veneer normally is not graded because it is manmade and has no defects.
