Description
Padauk veneer, also known as quartered padauk wood veneer or quarter cut African padauk veneer, is typically a vivid red orange to bright red that ages to a deep crimson brown color. It is normally available as FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed 4′ x 8′ sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Quartered Padauk veneer is also available in the 4′ x 10′ size and with Tuf-Pli™ polyback or Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backers as special order.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Quarter cut padauk is sometimes referred to as rift cut padauk. Quarter cut padauk wood veneer is luminous and striking in appearance. Standard grade quarter cut padauk wood veneer allows for occasional defects such as small pin knots and grain deflections. Padauk is an African hardwood of medium density that is heavy and strong with a coarse texture and a lustrous open grain. Padauk wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
