Carbonized bamboo wood veneer, also known as vertical carbonized or steamed caramel bamboo, is typically a caramel brown to a darker coffee brown color. Vertical carbonized bamboo gets its dark coloration when it is steamed. This veneer accepts finishes well.
Bamboo wood veneer is made from strips of bamboo laminated together and is random in appearance, with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Standard grade vertical carbonized bamboo wood veneer normally has some grain irregularities that occur naturally in the wood. Bamboo is a very common and extremely fast growing type of grass that is very strong and flexible. It has a straight and dense grain pattern, made by the narrow bamboo strips, with a stringy and coarse texture.
