Quarter sawn walnut veneer, also known as rift cut walnut wood veneer or quarter cut American walnut veneer, is typically a lighter pale brown to a deep dark chocolate brown color. It will accept stains and finishes well but is most often finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and accentuates the color and beauty of the wood’s natural grain.
Standard A grade quarter sawn walnut veneer tends to be uniform in color and commonly allows for some defects such as occasional pin knots and very slight figure or flashing. It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Walnut is a hardwood of medium density, very easy to work with and strong. It is light with a uniform moderately coarse texture and medium porous grain.
