Description
Zebrawood veneer has nice vertical grains with bold light tan to dark brown contrasting stripes. The contrasting grain can be tightly spaced or slightly wider but always an alternating light and dark contrast. It is normally available as FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed 4′ x 8′ sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Quartered Zebrawood veneer is also available in the 4′ x 10′ size and with Tuf-Pli™ polyback or Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backers as special order.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. . Zebrawood veneer is almost always quarter cut to accentuate the zebra patterning. Standard A grade zebrawood veneer commonly allows for some defects such as occasional pin knots and small grain swirls. Zebrawood is an African hardwood that is hard, heavy and dense, with a moderately coarse texture and a somewhat porous grain. Zebrawood veneer will accept finishes well. It can be stained but is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the contrasting characteristics and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
