Flat cut Alder veneer is a light pink to reddish toned wood that darkens with age. It’s available as 4′ x 8′ and 4′ x 10′ sheets in FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed flexible veneer sheet with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Alder wood veneer is also available with the Tuf-Pli™ polyback and Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backer options as special order.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Standard A grade flat cut alder wood veneer commonly allows for some defects such as occasional pin knots, some worm tracks and mineral streaks. Alder is a hardwood that is easy to work with and strong, with a satiny, fine texture and tight uniform grain and color. Another common grain characteristic is slight figure or flashing. Flat cut alder wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is often finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.
