Description
African mahogany wood veneer is a nice pinkish brown to reddish brown medium grain wood with excellent staining and finishing qualities. It is available in 4’ x 8’ and 4’ x 10’ FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed veneer sheets with the PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. African Mahogany is also available as 8′ x 4′ cross grain sheets and with the Tuf-Pli™ polyback or Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backer options as special order.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Quarter cut is rather plain in appearance with only slight or occasional roe or broken ribbon stripe figure. Standard A grade quarter cut African mahogany wood veneer commonly allows for some small defects such as occasional pin knots and small grain deflections. African hardwood is medium density and often used as a substitute for South American mahogany. It is easy to work with and strong, with a moderately coarse texture, slightly porous but lustrous grain and consistent color. It will accept stains and finishes well which accentuate the grain’s natural luster.
