Description
Red Oak veneer is an open grain wood whose color range is a light wheat color to a pink tone and is one of the most common woods used today. It is available in 4′ x 8′, 4′ x 10′ and 8′ x 4′ sizes as FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed, Tuf-Pli™ polyback, Pli-Flex™ wood on wood or cross grain veneer sheets with a PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Standard grade red oak wood veneer normally allows for some defects such as occasional pin knots and/ or mineral streaks. Red oak is a common American hardwood that is easy to work with and strong. Due to the lack of tylose in its cells flat cut red oak veneer has a coarse texture and an alternating tight to porous grain. Flat cut red oak wood veneer is often stained and accepts finishes well which accentuate the cathedral grain.
