Description
Medium flake white oak veneer, also known as quarter cut medium flake white oak wood veneer or tiger flake white oak veneer is typically a straw colored light tan-brown to a creamy beige wheat color. It is available in 4’ x 8’ and 4’ x 10’ FlexVen™ 10 and FlexVen™ 20 paper backed veneer sheets with the PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) option. Flakey white Oak wood veneer is also available as 8′ x 4′ cross grain sheets and with the Tuf-Pli™ polyback or Pli-Flex™ wood on wood backer options as special order.
It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. The flake or fleck is produced when the medullary ray is sliced while the log is quarter cut. Medium flake white oak wood veneer is often considered a high or premium grade veneer and allows for very little defects such as occasional pin knots and/ or mineral streaks. White oak is a common American hardwood that is easy to work with, strong, dense and decay resistant due to the abundance of tylose in its cells. Quarter cut medium flake white oak veneer has a coarse texture and an alternating tight to porous grain that is interrupted by the flakey figure. Medium flake quarter cut white oak wood veneer is often stained and accepts finishes well which heighten the visibility of the flake and makes it appear lighter relative to the rest of the grain.
