Description

Steamed Beech veneer, also known as quartered European beech wood veneer or rift cut steamed beech veneer is typically a pale pink to a creamy reddish light brown color. It is strong, with a fine silky texture and tight uniform grain that includes small silvery pith rays giving the wood a slightly lustrous sheen. Quarter cut steamed beech wood veneer also has a more pronounced fleck pattern or figure. Steamed beech wood veneer will accept stains and finishes well but is usually finished with a clear coat that preserves the warmth and beauty of the wood’s natural color.

It is usually book matched with the grain running along the 8’ dimension. Standard A grade steamed beech wood veneer commonly allows for some defects such as occasional pin knots and small mineral streaks. European steamed beech is a hardwood that is hard and dense but relatively easy to work with.
